Allan J. Kelly of Mount Vernon was headed north on State Route 221 about 8:30 Sunday morning when he failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection with State Route 22 as Gregorio Aparicio of Prosser was driving east on SR22. Aparicio was unable to stop and struck Kelly’s car on the driver’s side. Both drivers and Kelly's passenger, Louise Kelly, also of Mounth Vernon, were taken to PMH Medical Center in Prosser. Rudy Navarro, 21, of Outlook, was injured Monday evening when he crashed his pickup 2 miles west of Prosser on Interstate 82. Navarro was westbound about 5:40 p.m. in a Ford F-350 when he left the roadway to the left, rolled and came to rest in the eastbound lanes. Maria N. Martinez, of Granger, was stopped for backed-up traffic at Ackley Road about 6:50 a.m. when Israel Cruz-Cruz, of Yakima, struck her car from behind. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, and Cruz-Cruz is expected to be ticketed in the incident.

A 50-year-old White Swan man was injured when his car crashed into a swather being driven on North Brownstown Road on Saturday morning. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the accident, just north of Branch Road, at 6:24 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The swather was being driven southbound on North Brownstown Road without a pilot car when it was hit by the man’s car, which was heading north. The machine’s width extended over the centerline of the road. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of possible broken vertebrae.
